Don't rely on modernism
Don't get us wrong, modernism's great. We love it. Charles Rennie Mackintosh, The Bauhaus, Le Corbusier, Swiss fonts, IKEA, all those things are great; and there's a lot you can learn from them.
But here's the thing - while in many circles this would be heresy, we won't shirk away from it, oh no - it's not the only way to design things. It is but one idea and it has taken over. While not as bad as the disease of comic sans or clip art or many other cardinal design sins. But just think about it, that's what we want you to do. Design is all about context, like getting fish and chips and asking for salt and vinegar in Edinburgh, getting it right but in the wrong place is almost as bad as getting it just wrong. And even wrong can be right.
Design, the internet, innovation, invention. All this stuff is here for one purpose really. To allow us to do things faster, better and quicker. Just think about that and don't get bogged down in clean lines all the time and mondrian.
What's that we hear you say, if that's the case, "then why is your website so 'modern'in its design?"
and em, that's a good question.
